Opportunity: Heading around Speckled Hill

3962-5navcamSol 3962, March 18, 2015. Opportunity is driving southwest away from the edge of the ridge to get around Speckled Hill at left. (Click on the image to load a larger version in a new tab.) This low, rock-strewn hill stood directly south of the rover’s position while it was recently examining the “odd rocks” at the head of Marathon Valley. A new navigation waypoint, Spirit of St. Louis Crater, can be glimpsed as an almost flat feature in the center of the image, a little beyond the hill.

Opportunity raw images, its latest mission status, a location map. and atmospheric opacity, known as tau.
