THEMIS: Wind leaves its clawmarks

Wind leaves clawmarks in Aeolis Mensae (THEMIS_IOTD_20160817)THEMIS Image of the Day, August 17, 2016. Today’s VIS image is located in Aeolis Mensae, east of Gale Crater. The linear ridge/valley system near the center of the image was formed by unidirectional winds eroding poorly cemented material. This feature is called yardangs.
