Curiosity: Loomings

1255-navcamSol 1255, February 16, 2016. Mount Sharp (Aeolis Mons to be strictly correct) looms behind the rover, as it rolls across the Murray Formation’s rocks, northwest out of the cul-de-sac between Namib Dune (seen on the left) and High Dune (right). Click image to enlarge.

The driving plan calls for Curiosity to round High Dune heading west, then drive several hundred meters farther to avoid two more dunes (Helgas Dune and Kalahari Dune). After that, the tentative plan is to turn southward toward Mt. Sharp.
