Sol 4785, July 10, 2017. Parked in the Spillway at Perseverance Valley, Opportunity used the Pancam to shoot a series of three false-color images while rotating through four of its filters on each image (Holger Isenberg reconstructions). The series took one minute per filtered frame, or 12 minutes in all, starting with the left-hand set of frames just before 4 p.m. local time.
The images show color fringes. These were caused by shadows moving as the Sun sank in the west during the time it took the Pancam to step through the filters in the imaging sequence. (Click image to enlarge it.)
