Opportunity: Onward and downward

4936-navcamSol 4936, December 12, 2017. One day after it drove 8.4 meters (28 feet) downslope, Opportunity turned its Navcam to shoot a series of images (which unavoidably include severe lens flare) that range in direction from south (at left) to northwest. Low outcrops of rock show high spots along Perseverence Valley’s channel. Click the image to enlarge it.

Opportunity raw images, its latest mission status, location map, and atmospheric opacity, known as tau.
