Curiosity: The valley beyond the ridge

1930-mastcam34-valleySol 1930, January 10, 2018. Curiosity’s Mastcam (34mm lens) shot a series of frames showing the valley that lies beyond Vera Rubin Ridge, above. (This valley has been dubbed informally the Phyllosilicate Trough.) Currently scientists are exploring the features atop the ridge, yet eventually the rover will descend the back (southern) side of the ridge into the valley as it continues its journey toward the higher layers of Mt. Sharp. Click image (10 MB) to enlarge it.
