Curiosity: After the drive…

1985-navcamSol 1985, March 7, 2018. In two drives on this sol, Curiosity traveled in reverse to the northeast a distance of about 29 meters (95 feet). The Navcam composite above was taken after the drive was complete. It shows (near the right edge) the rover’s tracks as Curiosity emerged from a shallow depression with the bright outcrop in the bottom. This outcrop was where mission scientists tried twice (at Lake Orcadie and Lake Orcadie 2) to drill into the rock. Both drill holes were thwarted by the hard rock. Click the image to enlarge it.
