Yardangs in Gale Crater (THEMIS_IOTD_20180625)THEMIS Image of the Day, June 25, 2018. While far from the rover, this VIS image of Gale Crater covers the same central layered deposit, Mt. Sharp, that Curiosity is studying.

The linear ridges, called yardangs, are the result of wind action eroding the material, which is made of soft sediments.
