Opportunity: Sol 3600, March 10, 2014

On its 3,600th sol since landing, Opportunity approached the rocky area dubbed by mission scientists the McClure-Beverlin escarpment. It lies high on Murray Ridge at Solander Point, Endeavour Crater. At right, the Hazcam images the arm hovering over an embedded exposure of rock.

At right, the Navcam captures a field of smoothened cobbles emplaced on dirt that shows shallow grooves in the foreground. Both the grooves and the smoothening were perhaps due to the wind blowing over the ridge. The interior and far rim of Endeavour appear at upper left in both images.

Opportunity raw images, its mission status, and the rover’s latest location map.
