Sol 4071, July 8, 2015. The target named for Pvt. John Dame, one of the Lewis & Clark expedition members, lies in the “red zone” of altered rocks on the edge of Spirit of St. Louis Crater. (Another is Pvt. William Bratton.) Both appear to be a breccia, a rock type made up of compacted debris fragments from a meteorite impact.
