Opportunty: Pancam profiles San Juan Pueblo

5046-pancamFCSol 5046, April 4, 2018. The science team commanded Opportunity to shoot a series of filtered Pancam images on the parts of the San Juan Pueblo outcrop that lie a short distance upslope from the rover. The above composite uses false-color Pancam images by Holger Isenberg.

The colors are not true-to-life, but rather indicate differences in composition in the rock, soil, or dust. Note the dark and rough appearance of pieces that are part of the San Juan Pueblo outcrop, notably in the foreground. (Closeup view of this rock type here.) Click the image to enlarge it.

Opportunity raw images, its latest mission status, location map, and atmospheric opacity, known as tau.
