Sol 3757, August 18, 2014: Opportunity’s front Hazcam looked back over the rover’s tracks, as it climbed the slope of Cape Tribulation on the south side of Wdowiak Ridge. On the skyline at left is The Knob on the east end of the ridge, while the interior of Endeavour Crater lies in the distant background, center and right.

Light, shadow, and frost. The frost is carbon dioxide, less likely to sublimate (going direcly from a solid to a gas) in shadow than fully exposed to the Sun.

With the start of southern Spring just a week away, the seasonal south polar cap edge was nearing its maximum areal extending, reach as far north as about 50 degrees south latitude.
