Sol 4271, January 29, 2016. Two Navcam composites show Opportunity approaching the rocky face of Knudsen Ridge, following a 4.1 meter drive up the steep slope of Marathon Valley. Late-afternoon Sun casts a lens flare on part of the right-most image below. Click either image to enlarge.
A more distant view of the ridge is seen in the image here; Opportunity essentially drove straight toward the center of that picture. While the wheels slipped a little on the drive, the rover’s solar panels currently tip about 20° to the north, helping boost the power available.
Opportunity raw images, its latest mission status, a location map. and atmospheric opacity, known as tau.
